Christmas Fun

We had a great first Christmas with Garrett. He had lot of fun opening his presents.

Garrett daycare is closed for a week so we have been keeping busy. We went to an indoor park on Friday. Garrett had a blast. I think we will be going again soon.

Here are some pictures from Christmas.

Garrett was eager to open presents.

His first Christmas eve pasta dinner. A Dattalo family tradition.

Checking out his train that Santa left for him.

Now we can't get him off it.

Merry Christmas

Wow what a year it has been.

Dec of last year we first heard about Garrett. Then just 3 months later March 17th we got the call. Garrett was ready to come home. Mike and I scrambled around for 2 days fretting over the luggage, gifts and what Garret would need on the 13+ hour flight home.

March 19th at 7:30 in the morning we were at the airport. We knew we were on the same flight as another family. We figured we would not know who they were until we got our connection in Chicago. We'll it turned out we stuck out like sore thumbs in Minneapolis. We were all at the terminal early and fretting if we would make our connection in Chicago. We had lot of fun touring Korea with them.

I got to stay home with Garrett for 3 months. That time flew by. Garrett had us on our feet from the get go. He army crawled every where. Today Garrett is talking up a storm. Most of it we don't understand. But he likes to say Momma(still means food) He just never has kicked the meaning from Korea. He is starting to say Mom and Mommy. Yay! He also is saying Dadda, ball, dog, and a few others.. It's just a matter of time before he talks our ears off.

Garret is doing great at Goddard(daycare) He loves to see his friend everyday.

We are so blessed to have him in our life and are very thankful this holiday season.
On that note. Here are some Santa pictures. We we not prepared to be in the photos. But Garrett wanted us to sit on Santa lap.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Santa's coming to town.

Where has Dec gone! Well I think I had a post about a month or so ago titled "The calm before the storm". Well that has turned out to be an under statement. Our house has been full of sickness since about thanksgiving. Garrett ended up getting pneumonia last week even tho he was on antibiotics for an ear infection. The first antibiotics should of helped the pneumonia but it didn't. It was kinda scary. Luckily we didn't end up in the hospital. After multiple trips to the doctors they got him on the right antibiotics and he bounced backed. He stayed home for a week and got all better. Thur and Fri grandma Scott came and stayed with him so he could have a break from daycare. I do have to share one cute thing that Garrett did while he was sick. Last Tuesday I was going to work from home. Well Garrett had other plans. Garrett just wanted to sleep on the couch next to me. I started up my computer and started to login in to work. Garrett woke up for a few minutes. He looked at my computer on my lap and looked up at me. He took one finger and shut the top of computer. He looked back up at me and went back to sleep. I called in sick that day and we had a Pajama day on the couch.

Garrett got to see Santa for the first time on Saturday. Garrett's daycare had Santa come and they had professional pictures taken. It was so fun. Garrett did really good. He was a little scared. But, it helped then Mike and I sat on Santa lap too. We got a fun family picture. Garrett also let them take a few of just him and Santa. He looks a little scared but he wasn't screaming and crying. I'll post one when we get them.

So this week Garrett is all better and waiting to get sick again. He had his 18 month well check today. We're going to start him on some vitamins to see if that helps at all. But Mike is now sick. He woke up on Saturday with a nice bright red eye. Yup you guessed it. On Monday he found out he has Pike Eye. We are just hoping Garrett and I don't get it. I have no idea where he got it. Then today he went back to the doctors because he was still feeling really yucky and his eye basically swelled shut. Turns out he was allergic to the drops and he has bronchitis. Fun times.

On a brighter note we are getting our cabinets refaced this weeks. It looks so good. It amazing. We still have to get new counter tops and and a new floor and two new doors. But one thing at a time.

Oh yeah one more thing. We are officially on the waiting list for a baby girl. We went on the list Dec 4th. We had our home visit on the Dec 4th. It was really easy. I didn't stress out about it this time like the last time. Garrett did really well. He was a show off.

Ok I think I have typed enough for now.

Stay warm.

1 year ago today

Wow it hard to believe it has been a year already since we got the call. At 11:00 in the morning Dec 10th we got the call. There was a baby boy waiting for us in Korea.

Here is one of the first pictures we saw of him.

1 month

18 months

We are so blessed! It has been such an amazing journey.

Little G man is battling Pneumonia right now. Looks like he's might be on the turn around. I'll write more later.

The calm before the storm ?

Only one more day left of the week. Yay!

Things have been really calm around here for almost 2 weeks. Not too much drama.
We had parent teacher conferences last Saturday(yes, even for toddlers). It was really nice to hear how Garrett is doing compared to the rest of the kids in his room. He is doing really well in most areas. He's really trying to say more thing. Last week was Uh-oh this week it's ball. I'm hoping the other kids will rub off on him before his 18 month check up in a month. Some of the other kids are so verbal. I was blown away today by a little girl who is not even two yet. She was talking away.

They are so great with him there. He loves playing with his friends all day.

They are keeping a scrapbook of Garrett. It will follow him through the various classroom. One if the cutest things in the book is a picture of Garrett with his face smashed in his lunch sound to sleep. It was so cute.

Mike and I are excited for a date night this Saturday. We are celebrating our 6 year anniversary(a week late). We are going to Fogo de Chao for dinner and a movie. I was on call last week so we had to put it off for a week. Garrett is going to have lot of fun with Grandma and Grandpa.

Here we go again!

Lots going on in the Scott's house.

It official we have finally finished a good portion of the paper chase for adoption #2. Yay! Our social worker called today to set up our home visit. Dec 4th is the big day. This time around we just have to do one visit. She will probably be at our place for 3 hours. We should be officially waiting after that visit or shortly after. Time to get cleaning and organized.

Other news:
We are finally getting Garrett baptized. We were attending a church in Bloomington where we got married but it's a little to far away. We finally picked a new church home. St Philips the Deacon. Last weekend we went through the baptism workshop. We met lots of really nice people. Garrett is getting baptized Dec 6th we are so excited. My niece Ashley is going to be his godmother(I was Ashley godmother when I was 16 too.) Mike's bother Alex going to be his godfather.

My other big task is figuring out how to send an update with a letter and photos to his foster mom and for his file in Korea. I have to talk to the post adoption people.

So many things to do!

Uh-oh

That the kinda week we've been having and Garrett new favorite word.

Last week Garrett started saying Uh-oh all the time. They must say that at day care alot. Maybe mike and I do and we don't know it. Any way Garrett has had lot of fun with this. He likes to throw his snuggle out if his crib and then say uh oh.. uh oh.. Also we live in an older house and have a laundry shoot. Garrett loves to throw whatever he can find down the shoot. On Tuesday Garrett was home sick(he been home almost all week!) and Mike was home sick too. Mike gave Garrett a sippy cup with milk in it and then quickly ran to the bathroom. About 2 second later mike heard a bang, bang then a big Uh-OH. The sippy cup had a fun ride down the shoot and splatted all over our new carpet down stairs. I just had a good chuckle when mike called to tell me that story.

Garrett's other new thing he likes to do is try and put clothes on. He likes to try and put daddy's shirts on. They usually just end up on his head or around his neck. We are learning alot about how Garrett is wired his personality. He is so determined to do it by himself he gets really frustrated. Last night he was getting very frustrated that he could not put on his socks.

It has been so fun to watch him gain new skills. He going to be one smart boy.

Other news:

Mike finally got his background check paperwork for Iowa. Yay! He got that faxed off yesterday. Looks like we got all our references. So, now we are just waiting for all our background checks to come back.

It so amazing how the adoption process can change in just 12 months. We are having to do things we didn't have to do last time. Things are moving alot slower then last time. Also, The Korea side of program has changed quite a bit in 12 months. We are just hoping that we can make it through the process again successfully.
I did hear sad news this week. Something changed or someone ruined it for the rest of the families and now families are not receiving their babies the night before they leave for the airport. They are getting them as they get in the van again. This makes me very sad. It was so helpful to have Garrett the night before. It made our flight so much easier.

That all for now.

Halloween

Garrett had an awesome first Halloween. Garrett day started out with a Halloween party at daycare. They got all dressed up and paraded from room to room. I picked Garrett up after the party and he came home and took a 3 hour nap. I'm very glad I decided to do that or our night might have been really bad.

We went over to our friends the Anderson's. They live here in Plymouth and their neighborhood has tons of kids.
Garrett had a great time playing and trick or treating with his friends Lillian,Jae.

Here are some pictures from the night. Garrett was so cute when he went to the door. When people put out the bowl for him he would pick out a piece of candy or two. He loved putting it in his bucket. Mom and Dad are not sure how they are going to eat it all. Well OK I'm sure mike will eat it all in no time :-) Garrett got a full size snicker bar. Mom's favorite. Maybe next year Garrett can have a few pieces.

Waiting patiently to leave.

Snow

Holy cow!I just went to grocery store and there were snowflakes falling. This is crazy!

I'm hoping this week will be a uneventful week. This past week Garrett was having a rough week. He has been so good about sleeping though the night. But this past week was like the first weeks he came home. He was up every few hours screaming and crying. We tried everything. We would finally get him to sleep after about 30 to 40 minutes for a few hours and then the cycle would start again. He had no fever which is usually why he wakes up in the middle of the night. He did have an ear infection a while back and just finished his medicine for that earlier in the week. We thought it was either his ear infection didn't clear up or it was his teeth. We were putting orajel in his mouth before he went to bed and giving him Tylenol. Saturday morning after a whole night of no sleep. Mike took him to the doctors. Other then a cold doc said he looked and sounded good. He has a lot of teeth coming in and that is probably the problem. No ear infection. We were happy that was not the problem. Now we are alternating Tylenol and Motrin. We actually got sleep last night. Yay! Poor Garrett is getting a ton of teeth all at once. How painful.

Let see other news.

We are still moving along on our reapplication. We just got fingerprinted this week for the 10th zillion time for Adam Walsh and turned in our residential history. Mike should be getting a couple more forms to fill out since he lived in Iowa.
Our agency sent off our finger prints on Friday. It takes 4 -6 weeks to get all clearances. Once we get our last reference letter in and all the clearances are back we will see our social worker again. We hope to be waiting by the beginning of the year or sooner.

Fall Fun

We've had lot of fun that last couple of days now that Garrett is back to himself. He had an ear infection and Roseola(didn't know he had it until the fever broke and the rash appeared.)

Garrett has enjoyed all the leaves on the ground and trying to help daddy pick them up.
He also had fun today at Emma Krumbees. He picked out his pumpkin, apples, rode trikes, rode in the train with mommy, danced to music, and had some of mommy and daddy's apple pie a la mode. He had a busy day. He feel asleep as soon as he got in the car seat.

It was a fun day.

Here some pictures from the week.

Happenings

It has been a while since I have updated. Where do the days go?

Where do I start? Garrett made another transition last week at daycare. He moved to the toddler room. He loves it. He has so much fun with the bigger kids. He was defiantly ready. Mom and Dad were not so ready but Garrett was. He had a great first week. But with a new room comes new germs. :-( Garrett was sick by Sunday night. Mike stayed home on Monday and I stayed home on Tuesday. Garrett was feeling much better by Tuesday night. Today he was back to himself.

Today Garrett had his 6 month post adoption check up at the U of M. He was such a trooper. He is doing really well and for the most part is all caught up. He had to get some more labs done and the nurse was great. She had him so engaged with bubbles he never knew he got stuck with a needle. I love the U they are so great at answering adoption related questions. Garrett regular doctor often does not have an answer. He does do a good job tho. We just had some very specific concerns and the U really helped us.

Today for some reason I just could not get Garrett birth mom out of my head. I think of her everyday but today was different. I watch our little boy play, explore, cry, laugh. He is meeting so many new milestones. I wish I could share them with her. I so hope she will check his file in Korea and maybe even ask for some contact. We are truly blessed...

Other fun news. We finally finished our reapplication paperwork. I took us a month to write the self studies, gather all the doctors letters, insurance letters and get new physicals(They will probably expire before we get a referral.) Mike will be dropping it off tomorrow. Let the rollercoster begin. I think this time will be a little easier since we have Garrett to keep us busy and on our toes. We are very excited to start the process again.

6 months this week

I can hardly believe it will be 6 months this week that we have been home Garrett.

March 27th seems like it was just yesterday. Garrett amazes us everyday. I was just looking at our pictures of him in Korea last week he has grown so much. I really want to get some pictures up to show his changes over the last 6 months. I'll try and work on that this week.

Garrett is doing really well at daycare. He is unfortunately starting yet another transition. Garrett has one last week in the infant room. Last week he started the transition to move to the toddler room. It make me so sad to see him have to go through another transition. Garrett has been doing pretty good with the transition. The biggest change is he now has to take his naps on a cot. He did pretty good falling asleep but took very short naps. He was a bit cranky after daycare last week. We expect more of the same this week. He loves playing with the toddlers. He will spend alot more time in the toddler room this week. He will officially be in his new room Sept 29th. He is ready for the next room Mom and Dad aren't so ready.

Other fun news from the Scott Family:
We are officially starting the process for number 2. I guess you can call it paper chasing. We got our reapplication packet in the mail 1 1/2 weeks ago. There is lots of paperwork in the reapplication packet. Some of it we can copy from our prior application. It's a little challenging to get the paperwork done now that we have a little one running around. We have been working on it a little bit each night after Garrett goes to sleep. We hope to have it back in to the agency in the next couple of weeks. We'll see how it goes. The updating of our self studies is what is taking so long. We have all new questions to answer.

Have a great week.

All the excitment wore Garrett out!

Final Days of Summer

Wow where did the weekend go?

I got to spend 4 days straight days with Garrett. We had so much fun. I'm going to go through withdrawal on Monday. :-(

Friday daycare was closed so I took the day off and we went shopping. I love the Carter's store in albertville. We go lots of good fall stuff. The hard part tho is Garrett is right smack in the middle of 12 months and 18 months. Tops he can wear 18 months. He needs to wear 12 month pants for a little longer now that he is walking. We stocked up on a little of both sizes. We did get lucky and the pants I bought for him last winter/spring fit perfectly now. Yay! It is soooo cute watching him toddle around in jeans. There is just more fabric he has to carry around.

Last week we tuned in our 5 month final post placement report to our agency and our adoption decree. It was so neat to write about all the new things Garrett has started to do since our 3 month post placement report. He has changed so much in just 2 months. We are now done with all the agency paperwork for Garrett. Now we need to work on getting him a passport, social security number and his Certificate of Citizenship.

Now the fun beings all over again. I'm going to call one of the Korea team member this week to find out what wait times are looking like. If it's a longer wait we are going to get our reapplication this week. We can't have another placement until march of next year. In reality that will never happen. We would be lucky to be on the waiting list in the beginning of the year. We then would expect 9-12 month wait for a referral. That would work out perfect for us. But who know maybe God has other plans again.:-)

Here are some photos from the weekend.

Garrett had lots of fun playing at the park and going to the state fair. He also got his third hair cut.

Garrett's favorite tunnel.

Garrett loves to slide down this tunnel and then climb back up it.

Legally A Family Forever

Garrett did really well. He even told the judge he would never see him in is court room again. OK, really the judge told him he hopes he never sees him in his court room again and Garrett started jabbering. It was funny.

It feels so nice to have that part behind hide us. I have been feeling like I have been on pin needles up until now. I kept wondering if they are going to call and say Garrett needs to back to Korea. I know crazy idea. But you just never know what going to happen until you are final. It a good feeling. We look forward to starting the roller coaster again,

Here are a few pictures from the day.

Bike Riding

Garrett had lots of fun today on our bike ride. The first time we took him in his bike trailer he cried and cried. Today he did pretty good. He was even smiling after.

Summer Fun

August already! I can't believe it. Right around this time last year we turned in our homework from PAC class to CHSFS. Then we headed up to our friends cabin. Then just 3 weeks later we were meeting with our social worker for the first time. I remember what she said as she walked out the door. This time next year you'll be bring your child with you to the state fair. Our dream came true.

Here are some fun summer pictures of G.

One step closer to finialization

Our legal papers have been filed at our county juvenile court. Yahoo!

Now we are just waiting to get a letter from our para legal. CHSFS para legal submits our social workers report to the court. When we get the letter we can call and schedule our court date. Crossing fingers we hear next week.

Fun weekend!

Were did the weekend go? Time is just flying by.

We had a great end to our rocky week.

Garrett was sick most of last week. :( He spiked a fever in the middle of the night on Monday. He never wakes up in the middle of the night. So, when he does you know there is something wrong. He had a 103 temp and was not happy. We gave him some Motrin and we got him back to sleep. Tues I took him to the doctor to check things out since he was just getting over another cold. We knew having a fever at the end of a cold was not normal. I thought it might be an ear infection. Nope, Garrett just got yet another cold on top of the cold he was getting over. I felt so bad for him. He ran his fever for 2 day. Then for day care he has to be fever free for 24 hours before he can return. I'm not sure how families make it work when they only have 5 sick days a year. I realize now how that is crazy! Mike and I were home 3 days. Mike and I are lucky we were able to take turns working from home. Mike worked from home in the mornings and I worked from home in the afternoon.

Friday Garrett went back to day care. We found out it had been really quiet around there. All the kids were sick. It might have been a blessing in disguise tho. I guess in the other room there was an out break of Roseola. It has a incubation of 9 to 10 days. We're crossing our fingers Garrett has been spared. Teachers go back and forth between Garrett's room and the Infant room. Uggh. Rosela does not sound fun. Very High temps and then once the temp break they get a rash. Lets hope this week will be uneventful.

Friday for lunch Mike and I had our first date since arriving home with Garrett. Hoban opened back up so we met for lunch. It was really weird feeling. We kept saying G should be here. Lunch was very yummy. I had been craving Korean for weeks. Hoban just opened after being closed for over a month.

Saturday Garrett got to see some of his Korean friends and he met some new ones too.
We have Korean toddler gathering about once a month. This time it was at the water pad in Saint Louis Park. It was so much fun catching up with everyone. It's also good to know that Garrett is progressing much like the other children that came home around the some time as he did. It's a great support group. Garrett was the only boy there this time. He had lots of fun with the girls.

Sunday we walked around Harriet and did lots of house stuff. Mike is tearing up the carpet downstairs. We are getting new stuff. Yay! Smelly cat pee carpet is leaving. It was kinda of an impulse thing we did. We should have done it 5 years ago when we bought the house. Silly us. Our house is basically a disaster area. All the stuff from down stairs is upstairs. Minus the couches, they are in the laundry room.

I hope we can get the floor bleached and sealed quickly to seal out the cat pee smell. I can't wait for the new carpet to be laid.

I hope to post some more pictures soon. Since the downstairs computer is not up and running it will be a while.

Check back to the latest

Fun weekend!

Paperwork Done

Yahoo it the end of the week!

We got our paperwork for Garrett's finalization done and turned in on Wed. Now we sit and wait again. Seems like every month since we have been home we have had paperwork to do. Next month we will have to do our 5 month and final post placement report for Korea. I can hardly believe Garrett is 13 months old already and has been home for almost 4 months already. Time is flying by.

Tonight Garrett toddled in the bathroom for tub time. Just 3 1/2 months ago he could hardly hold himself up in a sitting position. He would army crawl to tub time. He quickly learned to pull himself up. Next he was on to crawling. Now he almost hates crawling any where. He just keeps trying and trying to get on his feet when he falls and there is nothing to help him get back on his feet. He is getting so good at standing up with out help.

This has been a good week. Garrett has been happy happy. That makes life so much easier. Happy baby equals happy parents.

Looking forward to the weekend. Mike got a new car. Nothing to fancy it's a small car and pretty good on gas. Mike got a Mazda 3 it's a reddish color more maroon. It was time to retire the truck. It was not safe having Garrett in the front seat in his car seat. I think I will have to take it every now and then. I miss my little red cars.

Tuesday, July 15, 2008

Oh the paper work!

We got our finalization paperwork all filled out. The last step before we turn it back in is get two pieces of paper work notarized. Mike and I are going to get that done tomorrow and get it turned back in to CHSFS tomorrow.

We hope that we will have a court date soon. We are so excited!

Once we get finalized we have a whole lot more paperwork to do. This is just the beginning of all our paper work.

Next up after we finalize
Get Passport.
Get soc number
Get certificate of citizenship- That take almost 1 year.

Oh yeah this week is starting out better then last week. Garrett woke up a happy baby for the last two days. Yahoo!

I have so many fun Pic of Garrett. I'll get them posted as soon as learn how to use my new camera.

Rough Week

I'm so glad it Friday. Yahoo! It has been a rough week in the Scott house this week.

It all started at my dads on Sunday. We went to my dads for dinner on Sunday. Garrett was playing near the T.V. stand and he lost his balance and hit his cheek on the stand. It turned black and blue right away.

Mike does the drop offs at daycare so of course they noticed and asked what happened. He explained what happened and went to work. When I went to pick him up at the end of the day they caught me at the door and asked if I got their message. I said no. Why?
Well it turns out Garrett had fallen outside and got a scrap under his eye on the sensory table. He now matches. Bruise on one cheek and a nice scrap on the other. Garrett is walking more and more and losses his balance easily. We call him Frankenstein. He's getting more confident and the arms are starting to come down a bit.

The Drama continues. On Tuesday I get a call at 11:00 from daycare. Garrett was getting off a toy and his foot got caught and he hit his nose on a handle bar and a book case. It was bleeding alot. They would get it to stop and then it would start again. He nose is runny from his cold and so it would not clot. I left work and took him to the doctors to make sure his nose wasn't broken and to get the bleeding to stop. By the time we got there it pretty much had cloted. Doc checked him out to make sure everything was OK. It was fine. He was the second child he had seen in a half hour with the same problem. I hope Garrett gets his balance down soon. Uggh!

OK more drama. On Wed Mike was trying to get Garrett out the door and to daycare. Garrett woke up for some odd reason and was cranky at 4:30 in the morning. He never wakes up that early. I check his temp he was fine. He was inconsolable. I leave for work and mike calls about 8:45 and says "Daycare isn't going to happen today". Garrett was so cranky and not happy. Mike stayed home with him. He put Garrett down about 9:00 and he slept for 3 hours had lunch and played a bit and then slept another 2 hours. I guess all the things that happened to him had finally caught up with him. He wanted to stay home with daddy and sleep. He has not been sleeping well at daycare.

Thur he woke up and was a completely different baby. He was happy happy which made us very happy. I guess that was his way of saying he's calling the shots. Hee hee.

The week has since started to turn around a bit. Thur when I got home I checked the mail. I had a nice suprise waiting for me. I had a little bit of happy cry. We got our final finalization packet. I had to order a couple of legal document from the county today and get all paperwork filled out. I hope to have it all returned by then end of the week. We are so excited and blessed to have Garrett in our family. We look forward to our Forever day.

4th of July already!

Wow I can't believe it already 4th of July weekend. We have been home with Garrett just over 3 months already. It feels like he has been with us forever. Everyday is an adventure.

We have been very busy the last few weeks. Let me catch you up on what the Scott family has been up to.

June 13th was Garrett first birthday. He had lots of fun. He got lots of fun gifts and really enjoyed is cake. We did a traditional Korean Tol table and Garrett picked Jujubes,Pencil and a spatula. He is going to have many decedents,be a Scholar and do something with cooking.

Garrett has been in daycare full time for the last two weeks. He is doing really well and learning new things everyday. The first full week was the hardest. He screamed everyday at the drop offs but now he has the routine down and knows were coming back. He really likes being around other children. We are 100% convinced Garrett needs a sibling. We can't wait to finalize Garrett adoption here in the U.S Courts so we can start the process again so Garrett can have a sibling.
We are patiently wait for our last set up finalization paperwork to arrive in the mail. We then need to order the proper forms from the county and get them filled out and submitted. We sure seem to do a lot of hurry up and waiting.

We had a wonderful 4th. We took Garrett to a swimming pond in minnetonka. We had a BBQ and took Garrett swimming. It was his first time. He had lots of fun. Check it out.

Splish Splash!

I think he likes it!

That's all for now. Check back to see the latest.

What a week

I finally get to have 5 minutes to myself so I thought I would write about the week.

The first week back to work was rough. I think it will take a while to get in the swing of things. Garrett first week of transition started out good but ended bad.

He was doing good up until Thur when he did a full half day. He only napped for 20 minutes. I expected that was going to happen. It took him a long time for him to nap for me. I think after a month he will get the hang of things. The bad part started on Thur night. In the middle of the night I heard Garrett cough. He only did it once and did not wake up or cry. He slept until 6:00. As I was getting ready I heard him cough again. I went in his room to get him up and he was warm. I took his temp and it was 101. Uggh no day care for him on Friday. Luckily Mike was on vacation so he stayed home with him. Then Mike got sick the same day. So now I have a winy husband and sick baby. Garrett ran a fever though Saturday and was fine on Sunday just a little sneezing. No more coughing or fever. He was a little cranky tho. I guess we will see how Monday morning goes. Garrett is suppose to be in day care full time this week. I think it's going to be a long week.

We celebrated Garrett first birthday Saturday June 14th. It was lots of fun and Garrett got lots of fun gifts. I will post some pictures when I get some uploaded.

Oh one more thing. I was really bummed because I thought daycare was going to see Garrett first steps. But on Monday when I got home Garrett took 3 steps toward me and then plopped down. He was so cute. He now loves to go back and forth between Mike and I and practice. He takes about 5 or 6 steps and then starts to fall in to our arms. He's getting better.

Bad day.. Maybe sensed something?

I guess we'll never know...

Garrett had a really cranky day today and he hasn't even gotten his one year shots yet that is tomorrow (Fri).

I knew after breakfast it was not going to be a good day. Garrett cried and cried. The only thing that helped was me holding him. We'll that wasn't going to work since we needed to be at the agency by 10:00 for our meeting. He didn't get his morning nap which is the root of it all I think? He was fine in the car and even slept a bit. Just as we got to the agency the crying started again. I drove around a bit to see if it would help. No such luck. We went to the parking lot and I got him out and held him. He just wanted to snuggle in and go to sleep but was not comfortable. Mike met us there and he tried. Mike's shoulder worked for a little bit. We got our meeting started and the tears started again. Our meeting was short and to the point with little small talk. By 10:39 with a crying baby in tow we were on our way back home. Garrett cried the whole way home. That is the hardest and worst drive. Once we got home and he was in his crib he fell right to sleep. He slept for 2 hours.

After he woke up and had something to eat we went to daycare to ask a few more question. Of course Garrett turned on the charm there and was all smiles.

Back home he is cranky cranky. By dinner time he was happy happy.. uggh what a day..

We put Garrett down for the night at 7:30 P.M. It was 9:30 A.M June 13th in Seoul, South Korea. We gave Garrett lots of hugs and kisses and told him how much he is loved and how special he is. We said a little prayer for birth mom and foster mom that both of their days go well. I just have to wonder if Garrett just sensed something today?

We sent a nice picture of Garrett in his hanbok for foster mom today while we at the agency. I hope she likes it.

Tomorrow is our little boys 1st birthday..

This week

Ok where did today go??? Garrett slept in this morning so he didn't have a morning nap. He did take a two hour afternoon nap and then we went and got his hair cut again. Yes, again. It was looking shaggy. He looks so cute.

This week is going to fly by I think. I can't believe I'll be sitting back in cubicle life next Monday rather then playing on the floor with Garrett. It's going to take everything I have in me to stay at work. But that's next week.. I still have 6 more days to have all sorts of fun with Garrett.

Tuesday- Is a fun play day :-)

Wednesday Garrett is having his 12 month checkup. I hope he doesn't get to cranky. We are going to do a run through at daycare on Wed afternoon. Mike, Garrett and I are going to get the scoop on what has to happen at drop offs and pick ups each day. We also have to drop off some supplies for Garrett.

Thursday we have our 3 month post placement visit with our social worker at the agency. Then Thursday night is going to a rough night. When we put Garrett to bed on Thursday night it will be Friday morning June 13th in Korea. I hope and pray that Garrett's birth mom will check Garrett file in Korea and read our letter. I know how hard that day is going to be for her. She made a very difficult and selfless decision to make an adoption plan for her beautiful son. We are so blessed to have him in our life. He truly a miracle.

Friday- Mike, Garrett and I will celebrate just the 3 of us.

Saturday- The family is coming over.. Yahoo...

Garrett's Playdate

Garrett had lots of fun today with his friends from Korea. Here are all the boys playing and looking for trouble. They all have June birthdays. Two of Garrett's friend are turning 1 this weekend. 2 of his friends are walking already. They were so cute. I don't think Garrett liked that. He wanted to go toddling off like them but needs something to hang on too. He is getting good though. He loves pushing his walker around.

Here are a few pictures from the day.

Garrett's first professional photos

We got Garrett pictures done on Sunday. Here is one where he is in his Hanbok. This is traditional Korean clothing that children wear on their first birthday. Foster mom gave this to us when we were in Korea. We are going to send her a picture.
