The calm before the storm ?

Only one more day left of the week. Yay!

Things have been really calm around here for almost 2 weeks. Not too much drama.
We had parent teacher conferences last Saturday(yes, even for toddlers). It was really nice to hear how Garrett is doing compared to the rest of the kids in his room. He is doing really well in most areas. He's really trying to say more thing. Last week was Uh-oh this week it's ball. I'm hoping the other kids will rub off on him before his 18 month check up in a month. Some of the other kids are so verbal. I was blown away today by a little girl who is not even two yet. She was talking away.

They are so great with him there. He loves playing with his friends all day.

They are keeping a scrapbook of Garrett. It will follow him through the various classroom. One if the cutest things in the book is a picture of Garrett with his face smashed in his lunch sound to sleep. It was so cute.

Mike and I are excited for a date night this Saturday. We are celebrating our 6 year anniversary(a week late). We are going to Fogo de Chao for dinner and a movie. I was on call last week so we had to put it off for a week. Garrett is going to have lot of fun with Grandma and Grandpa.

Here we go again!

Lots going on in the Scott's house.

It official we have finally finished a good portion of the paper chase for adoption #2. Yay! Our social worker called today to set up our home visit. Dec 4th is the big day. This time around we just have to do one visit. She will probably be at our place for 3 hours. We should be officially waiting after that visit or shortly after. Time to get cleaning and organized.

Other news:
We are finally getting Garrett baptized. We were attending a church in Bloomington where we got married but it's a little to far away. We finally picked a new church home. St Philips the Deacon. Last weekend we went through the baptism workshop. We met lots of really nice people. Garrett is getting baptized Dec 6th we are so excited. My niece Ashley is going to be his godmother(I was Ashley godmother when I was 16 too.) Mike's bother Alex going to be his godfather.

My other big task is figuring out how to send an update with a letter and photos to his foster mom and for his file in Korea. I have to talk to the post adoption people.

So many things to do!

Uh-oh

That the kinda week we've been having and Garrett new favorite word.

Last week Garrett started saying Uh-oh all the time. They must say that at day care alot. Maybe mike and I do and we don't know it. Any way Garrett has had lot of fun with this. He likes to throw his snuggle out if his crib and then say uh oh.. uh oh.. Also we live in an older house and have a laundry shoot. Garrett loves to throw whatever he can find down the shoot. On Tuesday Garrett was home sick(he been home almost all week!) and Mike was home sick too. Mike gave Garrett a sippy cup with milk in it and then quickly ran to the bathroom. About 2 second later mike heard a bang, bang then a big Uh-OH. The sippy cup had a fun ride down the shoot and splatted all over our new carpet down stairs. I just had a good chuckle when mike called to tell me that story.

Garrett's other new thing he likes to do is try and put clothes on. He likes to try and put daddy's shirts on. They usually just end up on his head or around his neck. We are learning alot about how Garrett is wired his personality. He is so determined to do it by himself he gets really frustrated. Last night he was getting very frustrated that he could not put on his socks.

It has been so fun to watch him gain new skills. He going to be one smart boy.

Other news:

Mike finally got his background check paperwork for Iowa. Yay! He got that faxed off yesterday. Looks like we got all our references. So, now we are just waiting for all our background checks to come back.

It so amazing how the adoption process can change in just 12 months. We are having to do things we didn't have to do last time. Things are moving alot slower then last time. Also, The Korea side of program has changed quite a bit in 12 months. We are just hoping that we can make it through the process again successfully.
I did hear sad news this week. Something changed or someone ruined it for the rest of the families and now families are not receiving their babies the night before they leave for the airport. They are getting them as they get in the van again. This makes me very sad. It was so helpful to have Garrett the night before. It made our flight so much easier.

That all for now.

Halloween

Garrett had an awesome first Halloween. Garrett day started out with a Halloween party at daycare. They got all dressed up and paraded from room to room. I picked Garrett up after the party and he came home and took a 3 hour nap. I'm very glad I decided to do that or our night might have been really bad.

We went over to our friends the Anderson's. They live here in Plymouth and their neighborhood has tons of kids.
Garrett had a great time playing and trick or treating with his friends Lillian,Jae.

Here are some pictures from the night. Garrett was so cute when he went to the door. When people put out the bowl for him he would pick out a piece of candy or two. He loved putting it in his bucket. Mom and Dad are not sure how they are going to eat it all. Well OK I'm sure mike will eat it all in no time :-) Garrett got a full size snicker bar. Mom's favorite. Maybe next year Garrett can have a few pieces.

Waiting patiently to leave.
